FAQ

We are a small optical store; we do not need to keep some items in stock.
The TISS Optic system modules allow each of our clients to activate only the features they actually use. What each optical store needs is defined together in a joint meeting. Some require a branch system, others just a system for multiple employees, and for an optical store with one or two staff members, even less is needed. Each user decides the level of system tracking themselves.
The inventory system is flexible enough to allow certain item types to be recorded as stock without counting the actual quantities (for example, cords or nose pads). Some optical stores do not even track lens inventory; in such cases, the inventory serves basically as a price list record. There are truly many options. A standard feature of the inventory system is also commissions with reports on products sold by specific suppliers.
We are a large optical store with branches, and each should have individual privileges.
We are a large optical store with branches, and each branch should have individual privileges for its own inventory, sales, and employee management.

TISS has a sophisticated system of user rights and privileges, whether for managers, owners, accountants, or opticians. TISS allows each user group to set separate permissions, such as what they can view, edit, or create. Individual users can be restricted to access TISS Optic only from the optical store's IP address (depending on your network setup a fixed IP address is required), while other users (for example, the owner) can log in from anywhere. In large optical stores, various reports and managerial outputs are available to support further business decisions.
We don’t have an optical store, only a clinic. Can we separate some functions?
Of course. The functions you don’t need simply won’t be used.
We don’t need refractive cards.
Some optical stores need only work (order) cards for making glasses, while certain data must be recorded in the refractive card during examinations. If the optical store does not require recording examinations in refractive cards, they can simply be turned off.
Each optical store has its own parameters to record, and therefore TISS Optic adapts to each store individually. Even within individual work data, multiple columns can be turned on or off. But that's not all. Each optical store even has the option to create its own format for how the output for the client on the work card will look. If necessary, columns with discounts, prices before or after discount can be enabled; if not needed, they can simply be disabled.
How does the transfer of data from the Refractive Card (RC) to the Work Card (WC) work?
Easy. With just one click. Since TISS Optic was developed by opticians themselves, all processes are designed to be as fast and efficient as possible. Besides transferring data, the system also keeps a full history of all examinations. From the examination history, you can reuse measured values in future orders for the same client.
What is the structure of the Work/Order Card?
TISS Optic adapts to your needs – columns for individual values in the work/order card are not only left blank but can be turned off. They won’t distract you. If needed in the future, you can easily enable them again. There are several fields in the cards that you do not have to use.
Additionally, each optical shop has the option to define its own visual design of the work/order card.
How do summary reports, overviews, and print reports work?
What can be filtered and viewed? Almost everything can be viewed and filtered – inventory items, sales information, and product procurement. TISS also provides comprehensive reports for accounting. For inventory management, it offers information on stock value, summary reports on sales for accountants, and sales statistics for managers. A large amount of data can not only be filtered and categorized but also exported in multiple formats for further processing.
What data do clients see and what print reports does TISS provide to them?
Your customers do not see any data and do not come into contact with the TISS system. Although TISS Optic is online, access is available only to you and your employee users. You manage the data, which is stored on our secure servers. The client receives from the staff only a copy of the work card, or the refractive card, a payment receipt (a receipt from the cash register), and if needed, a complaint protocol.
The work card and refractive card do not have to be printed for the client; they can also be sent by email.
How does automatic processing of batches for insurance companies work?
Batches are processed easily. TISS knows the current data interface according to the latest guidelines from the Health Care Supervision Office. There is no need to manually mark which patients are included in the batches. TISS automatically performs the selection and notifies you if any required parameters are missing. For example, if the referral date is missing, TISS will remind you before sending the batch.
What printer do we need?
A regular one. Sufficient for printing a work card for the client and for production. You don’t need to replace your existing equipment because of TISS Optic. Receipts are printed using Elcom and Varos brand cash registers, which support TISS system features.
What barcodes does TISS use?
TISS works with barcodes on multiple levels. Each order is marked with a barcode for faster handling, and individual products also have their own barcodes. It is possible to adopt barcode labels from the manufacturer or implement your own barcode logic. TISS can print these codes on price lists and printed reports, and also on price tags or catalogs.
Barcodes can also be used without a graphic representation (so-called zebras). This is used by opticians who do not use a barcode scanner but still want every product to be uniquely coded.
Do we need to have a cash register if we want to use TISS Optic?
No. You can also use a virtual cash register or a cash register (fiscal printer) not connected to TISS. However, if you want TISS to directly send data to the cash register and receive data back into the system, you need to use a fiscal printer of the brand Elcom eFox or VAROS FT.
Is it possible to sell items from stock under a different name?
Is it possible to sell items from stock under a different name than in the stock card? Yes, the TISS system allows authorized users in each company to invoice and manage stock as needed.
How does communication with eKasa work?
TISS supports printing fiscal receipts only from selected cash registers of the Elcom or Varos brands. After entering the payment, TISS sends a print command to the cash register, which prints the receipt, during which the document data is sent to the Financial Administration, and the received payment is recorded in the TISS system under the client and their order. The TISS Optic system is not a cash register; TISS only sends information and print commands to the fiscal printer. Closures and documentation for the cash register must be maintained as before.
What does it mean that TISS is online and what are the potential risks?
Some programs need to be downloaded and installed. In such cases, data is stored only on a specific computer. The problem arises if the computer breaks down beyond repair and the data is lost, or if the computer is stolen. TISS Optic is online, so no installation is necessary. It works similarly to your internet banking – you log in using secure credentials from anywhere in the world. Therefore, you don't need to worry about changing computers in your optical store, as the data is centralized on a server. This also raises the question of security. TISS is as secure as similar banking software, and there’s no reason to worry about data loss or theft. Many people fear that someone might break into the system and steal the data. However, it is far easier to physically break into an optical store and steal paper-based accounting records and documents. Concerns about the safety of your data in the TISS system are unfounded.
How does the recording of deposits before the production of glasses work?
It is up to the company's internal decision under what conditions and in which cases a deposit will be accepted. After creating an order, the operator has the option to record the deposit acceptance, and this information is recorded on the work (order) card, in the client's order itself, and the client receives a receipt for the deposit from eKasa. When picking up the glasses, the client pays the difference and receives another receipt for the remaining amount. The deposit can be recorded at any time, not only at the moment of creating the order but also at any time for an existing order.
Where is the data stored and who has access to it?
Data about your customers and patients are stored on servers managed by us and by our server solution providers. These are the largest companies in Slovakia that provide servers for banks and other institutions. The servers are protected not only physically but also electronically, similar to your internet banking. In the TISS system, it is possible to set security levels – for example, allowing login only from a specific computer or IP address. Clients with extreme data security needs are accommodated with such settings.
Precisely because of security, every user in TISS Optic is required without exception to change their password every 3 months.
Is it possible to store clients’ findings, examinations, or photos of documents with their records?
Yes. For each examination or glasses production, it is possible to record various documentation that you transfer into the system from your computer. It works similarly to attaching a file to an email.
How do we transfer data from the old system to the new one?
When switching to TISS Optic, it is possible to transfer data from the previous program. This mainly concerns the records and history of customers, produced glasses, and examinations. The stock issue is more complex; it is necessary to consider whether to perform an inventory before switching to the new software. Regardless, it is still possible to transfer stock levels into TISS.
Where is the TISS Optic program installed and what do we need for it?
Since the TISS system works online and is not installed, all you need is a computer (or, for example, a tablet) with internet access. Launching a fully functional login takes just a few minutes, and configuring additional settings requires only a few clicks to achieve the ideal setup for each of our clients’ needs. The best part is that we can dynamically change all settings for clients. Just call us or send an email, and we will activate the new setting or privilege.
The optical store staff have no experience with such software.
The optical store staff have no experience with such software, everything has been done on paper until now. Will the transition be difficult?
TISS is an information system where everyone sees only what they need for their work. Optical store staff who do not perform examinations or issue invoices do not need to have these menu items enabled. However, it is up to the optical store management to ensure that their employees have basic computer and internet skills, which is no longer a problem nowadays. Along with the TISS system, everyone receives not only training but also a manual for basic procedures and processes. Each company then appoints responsible communication personnel who provide advice to other colleagues in case of system-related problems. If a problem is more complex, the client can always contact our support by email or phone.
Additionally, if we notice problematic use of a function, we prepare video tutorials for its use.
How is the e-shop connected with TISS?
TISS is a robust information system that, besides optical modules, also includes modules for excellent management of a successful e-shop. Therefore, it is a shame not to use the potential of the internet. Stock cards, which you basically have prepared anyway for sales, are simply transferred to your website. With proper sales support, you can earn money online as well.
Our accountant does not want us to record invoices or retail sales in the system.
They want to keep it separate in another program. Which functions of the TISS system will be used is entirely up to the optical store's decision. It is not necessary, for example, to issue invoices for health insurance companies directly in TISS Optic. Similarly, a connection with eKasa is not required. Several clients use TISS only for record-keeping and organization in work cards. Receipts and invoices are done outside the TISS system.
How do I get data from TISS into the accounting system?
TISS can export various data, for example, to Pohoda, Tangram, and Omega. We make your accountants’ work as easy as possible. Purchases, sales, complete invoicing data, and customer information can all be exported.
Is the TISS system a replacement for accounting?
No. TISS is designed for clear work and record-keeping in an optical store. It records clients, their examinations, product stock, and overall sales. TISS can also be used as inventory management with precise tracking of stock movements, but this is not mandatory. If TISS is used as an accurate reflection of stock, it provides several types of outputs and exports needed for accounting software. However, TISS does not replace accounting itself. It is possible to transfer various data into accounting programs.
Do we have to change emails, website, or our e-shop if we want to use TISS?
No. TISS operates independently. However, if you want to use the e-shop together with TISS, it is easier to adapt the e-shop to work with TISS.
We need to provide instructions and obtain GDPR consent along with the glasses.
Any text can be added to all print reports generated by TISS. This means that a text with instructions for the client is inserted into the work card for the glasses, along with a space for the signature for consent to personal data processing, which the client signs on your copy of the work card.
How does personal data protection and the related documentation work?
TISS records the consents provided by the client when registering an order—whether it is consent for marketing use of selected data or other types of consent used. TISS also prints consent texts on the back of the order page for the client’s signature. These texts can be individually customized for each optical store, as each store may have its own formulations.

If the system also records information of a medical nature or clients’ birth numbers, necessary security projects must be in place. The security project or guidelines are the responsibility of each optical store. Our company fully supports the preparation of this documentation, but each company, optical store, or clinic creates its own personal data protection documentation independently.

Our company has a security project compliant with current legislation and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), but using the TISS system requires each company using TISS to adjust their documentation accordingly.
Does TISS also print instructions for use and warranty conditions?
It is possible to add various texts to all print reports from TISS Optic. The most common ones include instructions for use and excerpts from the warranty conditions (required by law). It is also important not to forget the obligation to provide information about the processing of customers’ personal data. TISS prints all relevant consents not only on order or refraction cards but also as standalone print reports.
What is included in the management reports?
The content includes data types needed for deeper sales statistics and employee monitoring. It also covers information on profitability and branch performance, sales times (useful for adjusting and planning staff in the store), client tracking (new versus returning clients), and other details. We regularly update management reports with data requested by our optical stores.
Is it possible to sell items that are not in stock?
Yes. If necessary, this function can be disabled for individual employees so that sales are limited only to items listed in the price lists and stock.
What happens if the computer breaks down?
Nothing happens. The system is online; you simply bring a new computer, open the internet, go to www.tiss.sk, log in, and continue working as before. Imagine it like internet banking: would you lose your money if the computer you use for payments breaks down? You wouldn’t. That’s because the data is stored in the cloud on our servers, just like your money is stored in your bank.
Who is TISS Optic suitable for?
TISS Optic is suitable for both small family-run and large optical stores. The advantage of the system is its modularity. As outlined in the list of features, all functions can be turned off, on, or customized to suit the needs of both small and large optical stores. Many optical stores track stock down to the exact euro, while others do not track stock at all and use TISS Optic only for client record-keeping.
Is it possible to purchase TISS Optic with a one-time payment?
Our prices are transparent and can be viewed in the Pricing section. The system operates on a monthly subscription fee, which includes many services and unlimited support via the hotline. The system cannot be purchased with a one-time payment precisely because we continuously improve, update, and advance it.
Can I work on a Mac, Linux, or an Android tablet?
Of course. TISS Optic is online software, which means you don’t install anything. You access the program by logging in at TISS.sk. It works similarly to internet banking. You can use it not only from a single Windows computer but from any device with internet access.
How does the loyalty program work?
TISS Optic includes a universal loyalty module based on point collection. The customer receives a loyalty card with a unique number. These cards, featuring your logo, can be supplied by us or produced by your advertising agency. When making a payment, the card is scanned and points are added based on the amount spent. On the next purchase, the customer can use loyalty points as a form of payment.

The value of 1 point—that is, how much 1 euro spent is worth in points—is determined by the optical store. It’s also up to the store to decide whether the cards are transferable within a family, completely non-transferable, and who is eligible to redeem the rewards.

If an optical store uses a loyalty program, it usually differs from others. The good news is that TISS can be adapted to match your preferred setup in most cases.
Does TISS Optic also track complaints (claims)?
Yes. The complaint protocol is one of the many print reports managed by TISS. A list of all complaints is included as part of the system.
Does TISS Optic also record consignment stock?
Yes. The values of the consignment stock can be separated in calculations and reports from the value of the optical store’s own inventory, so they do not enter into the company’s assets. The system also provides an overview of consignment products sold over a selected period, allowing you to generate a report for the consignment supplier.
Inventory checks can also be carried out separately for consignment products or for items owned by the optical store (in regular stock).
What print reports can I generate from the inventory?
After completing the inventory, it is possible to print the current value of the stock (own or consignment) according to various categories (for example, only the value of lenses, only the value of accessories or frames, and so on, and they can also be categorized by suppliers). It is also possible to print the discovered differences and their valuation in stock price.

It is possible to go back to inventory values and, for example, perform inventory on January 15th, comparing stock levels recorded as of January 1st of that year. This is called a retrospective inventory.

For all print reports, it is also possible to add a custom heading, for example, if you perform inventory as of December 31st, but practically do it only on January 3rd of the following year, you can change the document header to "Stock status as of 31.12.2025."
Does the program automatically download price lists from lens manufacturers?
No. The main reason is that we do not want to overwhelm the client’s inventory with hundreds of newly created stock items (or just price list items). Each optical store creates its lens inventory structure based on our recommendations, and this structure is significantly simpler and smaller than the suppliers’ price lists. Nevertheless, the full price list is included, and TISS contains everything from various price lists. Importing price lists from data files is possible upon individual request.
Can multiple people work in TISS at the same time?
Yes. As we have already mentioned in several places, TISS Optic is online, so no installation is required. It works similarly to your internet banking – you log in by entering security details from anywhere in the world. At the same time, one employee can be stocking new products, another selling in the store, and a third working in the office.

This question is especially important in connection with inventory, since it can also be done using multiple computers and tablets at the same time, not just one device. Inventory therefore takes much less time.
Do we have a separate company ID for each branch, can we operate in one system?
Yes. Having one company ID (IČO) is not a problem; under a single login for the optical store, we can connect different branches that operate as separate business entities. The system can also automatically create invoices and issue/receipt slips for transfers between these formally separate warehouses.
Inventory can be carried out separately as well, with values valid only for the given branch.
